Jesus Christ was hated, by many...why?
Let's talk about the real, historical, Biblical Jesus, for a moment. He was a man who was loved by those who knew him well, and hated by the majority, who didn't. Why would the 'crowd' hate a guy who every Bible-believer knows never did a single thing he wasn't supposed to, or committed even ONE sin, in his entire life?
John 8:46 Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me?
There's the 'rub', as the old saying goes. He also always told the truth. Can you imagine someone doing that, today? They'd be called every name in the book, and none of them complimentary. Since our Lord was the living embodiment of truth, he could do nothing less. The 'old guard' in Israel couldn't stand that, and nothing about them has changed, in the modern, (supposedly) more sophisticated world.
Though I am far from worthy of comparison to the master, the quickest way I've found in these times to get a 'bad' reputation is to point out the obvious truths, you see. The moment you do, you stick out like a sore thumb, and people will let you know they resent it, very quickly.
The same was true, in the life of the Savior. Of course I do not tell the truth always, as I am a mere man. Not so, with the God-man. We have heard his voice ringing out with such clarity, from our Bibles:
Matthew 12:34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
How often do we hear that verse (and similar) quoted in today's world? Very, very rarely, for certain. It just doesn't fit in with the 'positive' Jesus the world spins, in 2014. We as right dividers know that many of the things that are found in our 'new testament' apply to Israel at the time they were spoken, only, as in the above. Yet, one thing has not changed, nor ever shall. Yes, Jesus will save any man, woman or child in this dispensation provided they come to him, with only a need for the gift of god, salvation by grace. He yet speaks only the truth, (in all times, and places) and will still be hated by the majority who refuse to believe, for that reason.
